In 2017 I traveled to Mexico to explore, study Spanish, and live with a close family friend, Tia Nella. She taught me to make Salsa Chile de Arbol in a molcajete. Gracias, Tia. That was the beginning of my salsa journey. I fell in love with the food, the country, the people, and their language. Enthralled with the natural goods in the mercados, I wanted to fill my home with the rich, beautiful textures and materials that were being made by hand. Inspired by the skill and techniques used, many passed down from generation to generation, my life was forever changed. This is how Tienda Salsita was born.
We make salsa in small batches using local and seasonal ingredients. Our salsa is stone ground in small batches. We hand toast dried chiles and use locally grown produce from small farms using sustainable agricultural practices. Enjoy the rich, layered flavors of dried chiles and the brightness of freshly harvested produce within each jar.
Our recipes are based on traditional recipes. They are the flavors of Mexico. Each jar of Sabor de Salsita is made with love. May these salsas brighten your cuisine.
