Kristin Nelson is The Ardent Homesteader. She lives here in the Hudson Valley with her husband and three boys. They began their homesteading journey about ten years ago (their biography could be entitled "Chickens: the Gateway Animal") and have become more self-sufficient with every passing year. They grow their own fruit & veg and raise a small number of chickens, cows, and pigs. They love being so connected to what they consume and have learned A LOT from the process. It's hard work, both physically and mentally, but they know they are lucky to be able to do it.
