Surfing Goat Soaps at Hames & Axle Farm

Surfing Goat Soaps at Hames & Axle Farm

"Soaps to make your Skin and Soul Smile"

Surfing Goat Soaps are made at Hames & Axle Farm, which we started in 1996.  Our soaps and products continue our desire to protect our planet and bring the Earth's goodness to our customers, through our goat's milk, honey and other products grown on the farm.  Our Nigerian dwarf goats' milk isextra high in cream which lends a great creaminess to your skin.

We only use essential oils, so there are no artificial fragrances.  Any colorants are naturally found, not manufactured. We strive to package things with recycleable or reusable containers, and to give you a great value for your purchase while giving the gift of care to our planet. All our soaps are made in small batches and aged for at least a month.

Our goats don't surf on the waves. They surf on their mothers, or sheep, or a rock, whatever will help them get their way.  Our skin cream is named after original Surfer - Wonder.  She used to ride on our sheep's backs, driving them to low spot in the fence, so she could hop out.  We would plug that hole, she's find a new one, and repeat.  She never ran away. She just ran back into the barn for more love from anyone who would put her back in with her mother. Yup, that's a goat for you!

Stress is no one's friend, so Surfing Goat Soaps at Hames & Axle Farm strives to lower your stress level, and gain strength to face whatever you need to face. Whether it's dry skin or eczema, our customers can tell you how our soaps have helped them.  Just want to smile? Our molded soaps, or just "Notes from the Herd," will give you a lift.  Try some and see!

Frequently Asked Questions

-Do you use Palm Oil?
Only by request. Our basic soap recipe uses lard, which we get from neighboring farms. Palm oil has become a major ingredient in things around the world, and its harvesting and planting practices are destroying habitat for a lot of endangered species.  We do not believe that is necessary.  If we do use palm it is from a sustainable source, but we believe that using locally sourced lard, or tallow when required, is more sustainable.

-What makes goat milk soap special?
Goat milk is as close to human skin's pH, so it is easily accepted by our skin.  Goat milk fat is found in tiny molecules of fat, unlike cow's milk is which has larger globules. This makes it more accessible for your skin.  Traditionally goats milk soap has been the ultimate in quality skin care. We believe our goat's milk is a prime example of that.

- I have chemical sensitivities.  Can I use your products?
We list all our ingredients on the label for the soap, and will include them in all our soap descriptions.  We also put a batch number on each bar so if you have any concerns
we can check back in our records and see if there were any odd things that happened in making that batch.  We do not use any artificial fragrances and keep our essential oils light,
so our customers do not effect their neighbors, or themselves when they use our products.
