People often ask me why I started a business making stationery. Initially, I made cards for my personal use and, of course, the process was fun. But the thing that kept me making them was the response people had when they received one. They said it felt extra special knowing it was made by hand. They also told me that the envelope details made it fun to open. One person described it this way: "Opening a jhcard is like opening a present." That realy stuck with me...receiving my card made them feel celebrated!
Now, on top of that, you have what's on the inside. What do people write in a card? Expressions of love and affection. Words of encouragement or gratitude. The fact that people are using my cards as vehicles to spread love and gratitude is exactly why I want to make as many as I possibly can. In a world of high-tech communication, a handwritten note can create a powerful connection.
I'm interested in keeping a small footprint on the enviornment. My fold notes, envelopes and coverstock are made of recycled paper; papers and envelope liners are sustainable, where possible, with paper from the renewable lokta plant. Card sleeves and boxes are compostable.
