An avid Francophile and gourmet, Bostonian Karen Pevenstein first discovered these unique, hand-harvested sea salts at a Parisian food fair.
After trying them, she immediately fell in love. She searched for equivalents of these salts in specialty shops in the U.S., but never found anything that came close to the flavor and refinement. When she gave them as gifts to her friends, they soon discovered how this “magic salt” could transform their everyday cooking.
She then followed her passion and decided to import them herself. She travelled to Guerande in Brittany to work with independent farmers Gilles Morel and Matthieu Le Chantoux to discover what makes their products so special.
She soon learned the secrets of the salt marsh and how the natural elements and terroir of Brittany such as the winds of the Atlantic contribute to the refined texture and taste of these amazing products. The salt farmers' commitment to sustainable practices includes their use of solar energy and commitment to protecting the ecosystem around them.
But what really makes the salts special is their taste. A fan favorite of top chefs and everyday cooks, Louis Sel will transform any dish from morning eggs to roasted veggies to grilled meats.
Louis Sel is delighted to be the exclusive U.S. distributor of Morel et Le Chantoux. Karen is delighted to bring these products to U.S. kitchens especially those in her backyard of Boston.
Once you try it, you’ll be hooked too!
